| The German national eight Hansa Dortmund & Berlin won the Grand, their under-23 crew Allemania Hamburg the Queen Mother, Marcel Hacker (Magdeburg) won the Diamonds & Katrin Rutschow (Wannsee Berlin) the Princess Royal. The only other overseas victory was McGowan & Peterson in an all-Augusta, USA, Double Sculls final. Molesey won the top two club events, Thames & Britannia. Leander won the Stewards as expected (Redgrave, Pinsent, Cracknell & Coode). Leander juniors won the Fawley (which for 2009 they were declared ineligible). Nottingham clubs, NCRA & Holme Pierrepoint won the Prince Philip, for coxed fours, | and the Wyfold, and Cambridge University both the Ladies & Temple. Oxford Brookes took the Visitors. In the Silver Goblets Williams & Dennis (Oxford Brookes & Queen's Tower) defied all the odds to beat Weightman & Scott, Atlanta silver medalists behind Redgrave & Pinsent. Top school was St Edwards, beating St Peter's College, Australia in the Princess Elizabeth final. In the Womens Invitation Eights, Marlow & Thames beat red-faced Thames & Marlow ... the latter the Womens National Eight and the former chosen from the rest of the squad. |
